The said concept has a very demanding impact on an individuals life as well as his way of working. However, the question as to what is IoT should be understood before issues related to its security are discussed. IoT basically helps connection of various devices with a switch which has an off and an on to the internet. By things, one means almost everything from mobile phones to washing machines to tea makers, lamp shades and such other things one can imagine of. The IoT helps to interchange information between devices with the help of rooted sensors. The growing usage of IoT has various advantages as it will help to transform the universe and the methodology they adopt to carry out their work. Due to IoT, various cars will be able to connect with each other and in turn also link with the smart city as well, such is the benefit it offers (Dickson, 2015). Background However, no benefit is alone and is always accompanied with varying risks due to an increased usage of connected devices which gives the various cyber criminals and attackers many more routes to enter the system and destroy or misuse it. Therefore it can be rightly interpreted that due to such an interconnection, if one device gets infected or entry is made, then it becomes very easy to enter the other devices which are connected to it. This would lead to endangering of crucial infrastructure that should otherwise be safeguarded. History has proved that IoT is also subject to security issues which has been highlighted due to the weaknesses imbibed in the communication software of devices which are connected to the crucial infrastructure for example personal computers used for work purpose and observation cameras has been targeted to enable unlawful admittance externally (Meola, 2016). The said report details about the various security threats to IoT. Security Challenges Posed By Iot There are various challenges posed by IoT which cannot be ignored. A decade ago people used to worry about securing the data saved on their computers and laptops, further five years down they started to worry about the safety of data in their android phones and presently, the shift has been seen into protecting of ones car and such other appliances which use IoT. First and foremost, the security challenge posed by IoT is the traditional challenges which have been posed by the standard and old aged computer systems (Valeiras, 2016). Such as the latest smart Tvs with features which gives access to the users to browse the internet, share pictures through social media which can possibly lead to putting the information stored in them at risk. The hackers can easily hack the system and get hold of crucial bank details, passwords and such intimate details about a person, the leakage of which can be detrimental(Eastwood, 2017). Further to this the main aim of an IoT is to ensure that the lives of people is easy at work and in personal sphere as well. Although the huge array of information collected will enable the individual or the company to take better decisions and calls, yet since various devices are connected it questions the privacy of the same. For example when it comes towards the security of the critical national infrastructure (CNI), with the various devices connected with the help of IoT, the distinction between the CNI and consumer world is eradicated. Thus this would lead to exploitation of CNI by the hackers (Govic, 2017). Another very prominent risk discovered by Symantec in the year 2013 was that a new virus was developed by the name of Linux Darlloz which not only would compromise the information stored in a computer system but also in some specific IoT appliances such as the smart tvs and home routers (Samani, 2014). The said virus mainly intends to get entry into those kind of Ids and Passwords which a4e formed via various well known combinations. It sends HTTP POST requests which takes advantage of the weakness of the system. Here if the target device is not running PHP, then it will download the virus from a malafide system and install it (Samani, 2014). Protection Mechanism The first protection mechanism that should be installed for protecting against various threats posed by IoT to the security is updating the devices and equipments on a continuous basis so that the same is not vulnerable to any attack. The risk increases if the patches are not updated frequently (Tanaka et.al. 2016). The best part is that the security of IoT which was earlier not paid heed to by people has now become a matter of concern for the federal government. Similarly various security firms and manufacturers are coming together to work together to secure the IoT world before it becomes out of control. For example the digital secure company Gemalto has plans to utilise its understanding in making online payments which would help to safeguard the IoT equipments. The company is offering the SE technology to the automotive and the utility corporations. It is a corrupt defiant constituent that gets rooted into equipments to help enhancement of digital safety and life cycle management with the help of encryption of and access-control restriction to susceptible information (Dickson, 2015). Conclusion and Future Trends Therefore on a concluding note, IoT is a reliable technology although has various hitches due to the security lapses it has to offer. However steps are being taken to secure the said vulnerabilities. It has given birth to various collaborations. One such is that done by Vodafone who founded the Internet of Things Security foundation which is liable for checking the devices which are connected to the internet for any kind of deficiencies and weaknesses it has to offer and will further extend a hand towards security of technology givers, those who adapt to systems and the final consumers. Reconstruction Finance Corporation The Reconstruction Finance Corporation was a federal lending agency created by the U.S. government under President Herbert Hoover to rescue banks on the brink of failure and restore Americans faith in the financial system while minimizing the crises of the Great Depression in the early 1930s. The Reconstruction Finance Corporation eventually grew in scope to finance agricultural, commercial and industrial endeavors through billions of dollars in loans until it was disbanded in 1957. It played a significant role in funding New Deal programs under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to help the United States recover from its worst financial crisis. Development Of A Hybrid Electric Vehicle Engineering Essay The term HYBRID VEHICLE refers to a vehicle which uses two or more distinct power sources of energy to move the vehicle. The term commonly refers to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLES (HEVs), which is a combination of an internal combustion engine and one or more Electric motors. The intention of the presence of electric powertrain is intended for either improving the fuel economy or better performance. 1.1 History of Hybrid Electric Cars The seeds for the invention of Hybrid Electric Vehicles were laid a century ago i.e., in 1900. The first hybrid electric vehicle, Mixte was developed in 1900 at Lohner Coach Factory by Ferdinand Porsche. This is a 4WD series-hybrid version, includes a pair of generators driven by 2.5 hp Daimler IC engines to extend its operating range ad could travel nearly 40miles on battery itself and was presented in Paris Auto Show in 1901. Mixte used gasoline engine powering a generator, this in turn powers up electric hub motor, and reached a speed of 50 kmph and a power of 5.22 kW in 20 minutes. Knight neftal produced a hybrid racing car in 1902. In 1905, H. Piper filed a patent for hybrid vehicle in US. In 1915 Dual Power, Woods Motor Vehicle electric car maker had a four cylinder IC engine and an electric motor. This car ran up to a speed of 24kmph on the electric motor alone, drawing the power from battery and after this speed, the IC engine took the car up to its 56kmph which was its top speed. Later in 1915, a Canadian company produced the first car for sale. Woods Motor Vehicle company in Chicago released the first gasoline-electric hybrid car in 1917.the hybrid was a failure commercially, proving to be too slow for its price, and its difficulty to service. The working prototype that is being used in most recent HEV was designed by Victor Wouk. His work on the HEVs in 1960s and 1970s earned him the title as The Godfather of the Hybrid. Wouk installed a hybrid drive train having 16 KW electric motor into the, Buick Skylark provided by GM. The Regenerative braking system, an important production concept for most of the HEVs was designed by David Arthurs in 1978 and used for the first time on Opel GT. The vehicle exhibited a fuel efficiency of 3.1L/100km.Audi launched its first edition of Audi Duo, an experimental vehicle in 1989. It is a plug-in parallel hybrid with 9.4 KW, Siemens electric motor and a Ni-Cd battery to supply energy to the motor which drive the rear wheels. Esparante GTR-Q9 was the first petrol engine to take part in the race at Le Mans. Later, the car finished second in class at Petit Le Mans same year, i.e., in 1998. Hybrid technology became familiar within the automobile industry in the late 1990s. All the automobile companies came to know about the social awareness of the customer, and then the mass production of the hybrid electric vehicles was started. The first of that kind is Toyota Prius in Japan, Honda Insight launched in 1999 in United States and Japan. Now, all the leading automobile manufacturers like Jaguar, Ford, Lexus, and Peugeot were on to the production of the hybrid electric vehicles. This may lead to a revolution in the automobile industry in near future. Briefing the Technologies Being Used in HEVs These days, many research laboratories and firms are working on the development of hybrid electric vehicles. These bodies are recruiting the individuals from all technical backgrounds such as mechanical, automotive, electrical, electronics. So that, they can concentrate on each and every aspect of the vehicle, that can lead to the development of the vehicle irrespective of its technical aspects. For e.g., NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) is one of the kind of researching bodies, actively researching on the various aspects of fuel cells and vehicles that run using the power generated from the fuel cells. Fuel cell vehicles are much likely as of hybrid vehicles with diesel or petrol engines. Modern HEVs are using many technologies which can improve the efficiency of the vehicle like Regenerative braking. This converts kinetic energy of the vehicle into electrical energy, instead of wasting it in the form of heat energy as like in conventional braking systems. Some HEVs use IC engines to generate electricity like an electrical generator, either to recharge the batteries or to empower the electric drive motors directly. Many HEVs are reducing the emissions at idle by stopping the IC engine and restarting when it is needed, this is known as start-stop system. External torque will be applied to the differentials when the electric powertrain is acting, which leads to the better performance of the HE vehicle. Components of a Hybrid Electric vehicle The structure of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle is much likely as that of an ordinary gasoline powered vehicle. The distinguishing factor is that a hybrid car will have one or more electric motors alongside which can improve gas mileage. Note: In the case of Toyota Prius, car runs solely by electricity when driven under a speed of 30 Mph. Figure : Structure of a basic Hybrid Electric Vehicle 1.3.1 Gasoline Engine The gasoline engine in a hybrid electric car is like as that of an ordinary internal combustion engine. However, the engine is smaller comparatively and uses advanced technologies which can result in reducing emission and more efficiency. 1.3.2 Fuel Tank The fuel tank of the hybrid electric vehicle acts as the fuel storage device for IC engine. Batteries can also be called as a fuel tank in the case of hybrid electric vehicles, as it stores the electricity produced and supplies when needed to the electric motor. 1.3.3 Electric Motor The electric motor in a hybrid electric vehicle is very small and essential component to make it a hybrid. Day to day advance in electronics allows electric motor to act as a motor as well as a generator. For e.g. it draws energy from the battery to accelerate the vehicle, when needed. But, while acting as a generator, it slows down the car and returns the energy back into the batteries. 1.3.4 Batteries The batteries in the hybrid electric vehicle are the devices meant to store the energy which is needed for the electric motor. Unlike, the gasoline in the fuel tank, only power the gasoline engine, the electric motor of a hybrid electric vehicle can charge the batteries as well as draw energy from them. 1.3.5 Transmission The transmission in a hybrid electric vehicle performs the same basic function as a transmission that of a conventional car. Generator The generator is much similar to electric motor, but it can only produce electric power. Generator is mostly used in the series hybrid electric cars. 1.4Available power sources for Hybrid vehicle The available sources of energy includes the following Rechargeable Energy Resource System, RESS Petrol or Diesel Hydrogen Compressed Air Liquid Nitrogen Electricity Solar Energy Rechargeable energy resource system (RESS) A Rechargeable energy resource system or RESS is a system which stores energy to deliver power and is rechargeable. This can be done by using a battery. There are six types of batteries that are presently being used as a source, for the production of energy in Hybrid electric vehicles. Those are lead-acid, nickel-metal hydride, nickel-cadmium, lithium ion, zinc-air and flywheels. Petrol or Diesel Petrol is being vastly used as fuel in automotives, due to its high calorific value and more efficiency of the petrol cycle (Otto cycle) and low emission rate compared to most of the other alternative fuels and its abundance. The thermodynamic cycle involved in the petrol engines is called, Otto cycle or four stroke cycle. Diesel is one of the best alternative fuels to petrol that can be used in automotives. The efficiency of the diesel engine is also good and the emission rate is a bit higher when compared to the petrol engine. The thermodynamic cycle that is used in the diesel engine is called Rankines cycle Hydrogen Hydrogen can be used as an alternative fuel, as an onboard fuel for motive power to the vehicle. This can be used as a fuel in any automotive which uses hydrogen in a similar fashion, as of in aircraft. The power plant of the vehicle converts the chemical energy of hydrogen into mechanical energy, this will be done either by burning the hydrogen in internal combustion engine, or by reacting hydrogen with oxygen in a fuel cell to run electric motors. 1.4.4 Compressed air Compressed air can be used as a fuel in engines which are pneumatic actuators, which can create a useful work by expanding compressed air. This is being used from the past two centuries, ranging from hand held turbines to several hundred horsepower. Some of them rely on turbines, others on pistons and cylinders. The engine that works using compressed air as a fuel is also called as Air-Hybrid Engine. Liquid Nitrogen Liquid nitrogen can be used an alternative fuel to liquid hydrogen. The engine extracts heat from the ambient air which will be used for heating the liquid nitrogen in the heat exchanger and using the resulting pressurised gas to operate the rotary engine. This can also be incorporated in hybrid vehicle systems, fuel tanks to recharge the batteries and the resulting in battery electric propulsion. This system is called Hybrid liquid nitrogen-electric propulsion. Moreover, regenerative braking system can also used in conjunction with this system. Electricity Electricity is being used as a fuel in automobiles since long time back. These cars run by drawing electricity from the battery to run the motor which in turn, runs the piston in the cylinder generating the mechanical energy which can move the car. The cars which run by using only the electric source are called plug-in electric cars. As these cars dont have any alternate source of energy other than battery, these needs to be charged time to time and hence called as plug-in electric vehicle. By adopting the electricity as an alternative source to the hybrid vehicle, the vehicle is called Hybrid Electric vehicle. Solar Energy Solar Energy is a form of fuel that can be used as an alternative fuel in plug-in electric cars. The vehicle will be powered by solar electricity obtained from the solar panels on the surface. Photovoltaic cells convert the suns energy into directly into the electrical energy. Even though it doesnt make any change in the form of fuel that is being used, but the mileage of the direct plug-in electric vehicle can be significantly increased by using these PV cells. But, the only backdrop in adapting this technology into the plug-in electric vehicle is that, these PV cells can work only in the places with abundant solar energy and will not be used during the dark. 1.5 Classification of Hybrid Electric Vehicles Hybrid electric vehicles can be classified basing on some factors. Such as, The path in which power is supplied to the power train. Degree of hybridization. Path of Power supplied to the Powertrain The classification of HEVs can be done basing on the way of power supplied to the powertrain. According to this, the vehicles can be classified as, Parallel hybrids Series hybrids Series-Parallel hybrids Plug-in HEVs Parallel Hybrids In a Parallel HEV, the Internal Combustion engine and the electric motor are connected to the mechanical transmission and can simultaneously transmit the power to wheels through the conventional transmission. Usually, parallel hybrids use small and single electric motors and depend on a small battery pack because the motor does not have the capacity to be the only source of energy to run the vehicle. Parallel hybrids are also capable of, using Regenerative braking to some limited levels and IC engine will also act as a generator for supplementary recharging. Parallel hybrids are much efficient compared to non-hybrid vehicles, particularly in the urban driving conditions and sometimes during highway operations, when the electric motors contribution is permitted. Honda Insight, Civic, Accord, and Chevrolet Malibu are some of the examples for the parallel hybrids in production. Series Hybrids In a Series HEV, only electric motor drives the powertrain and Internal Combustion engine acts as a generator to charge the batteries which empower the electric motor. In series hybrid vehicles, battery pack will be charged from the regenerative braking or the Internal Combustion engine. Series hybrids generally have small internal combustion engine but large battery pack compared to the parallel hybrid vehicles. This is the factor which makes series hybrids more efficient when driving in city conditions and more expensive than parallel hybrid vehicles. Chevrolet Volt is an example for a series hybrid in production. Series-Parallel Hybrids These vehicles are flexible to operate in parallel or series mode. As a result, these vehicles will be more efficient, because these will be operated as a series hybrid in low speeds and parallel in high speeds. But, these vehicles are costlier compared with a pure parallel. Hybrid powertrains are currently being used by General Motors, Ford, Nissan, Lexus, and Toyota. Vehicles referring to Series-Parallel can operate in both the parallel and series mode at the same time. Toyota Highlander is an example for Series-Parallel hybrids. Plug-in Hybrids Plug-in hybrid is a type of hybrid vehicle which works rechargeable batteries, which could be stored to full charge by plugging into an external source of power. This type of vehicles shares the features of a conventional HEV, having an Internal Combustion engine and an Electric motor; and with all-electric vehicle, provided with a plug that should be connected to the external source. These vehicles have well-built all-electric range compared to conventional gasoline electric hybrids, and combustion engine provides with backup needed when batteries are depleted. Chinese automobile manufacturer BYD Auto released F3DM hatchback into Chinese market in December 2008 and General Motors expects to launch Chevrolet Volt series plug-in by November 2010. Classification by Degree of Hybridization The hybrid electric vehicles can be classified further basing on the factor, the extent to which the vehicle is hybridized. According to this, the HEVs can be classified into, Full Hybrid Mild Hybrid Power assist Hybrids Full Hybrids This is a type of Hybrid vehicle which can run just only on the batteries, or just on the engine alone, or the combination of both. Fords Hybrid System, Toyotas Hybrid Synergy Drive, General Motorss Two-Mode Hybrid technology are some of full hybrid systems. A high-capacity battery pack will be needed for the battery only operation. These vehicles will have split path for power, which allows with more flexibility in the drivetrain by inter-converting mechanical and electrical power, although it is complex. Ford Escape Hybrid, Toyota Prius, and Ford Fusion Hybrid are some examples for full hybrid vehicles. Mild Hybrids This is a vehicle, which cannot be driven by depending only on the power produced by the electric motor itself. Since, the electric motor does not have enough power to propel the vehicle on its own. These vehicles are only included with some features of hybrid technology, and achieve limited savings on fuel consumption. A Mild hybrid is a vehicle more of a conventional type with oversized starter motor which allows the engine to turn off whenever the vehicle is decelerating or stopped. Yet, restart cleanly and quickly. Even when the gasoline engine was turned off, accessories will continue to run on the electric power, and like the other hybrid designs, motor will be used for regenerative braking to bring back all the energy. Mild hybrids have comparatively small batteries and a weak, small generator/ motor than those of a fully hybrid vehicle which helps in reducing weight and cost of production. The BMW Concept 7 Series Active Hybrid is an example of a Mild Hybrid with an electric motor designed to increase performance and power. Power Assist Hybrids These vehicles use the IC engine for primary power source, and torque-boosting electric motor is also connected to a large conventional power train. The electric motor is mounted between the transmission system and engine should be a very large starter motor essentially. This motor not only operates when the engine needs to be turned on, but also when extra power is needed. The electric motor may also be used to restart the IC engine, Deriving benefits from shutting down the main engine at idle, while the battery system will be used to run the other power accessories. Advantages and Disadvantages of HEVs over Conventional Petrol or Diesel Vehicles Fuel Consumption The consumption of petroleum is comparatively less and efficiency is much better in HEVs than the conventional petrol or diesel engines. Since, using three mechanisms: Reducing the wastage of energy during low/idle output, usually by turning off the IC engine. Utilizing the waste energy (i.e. by regenerative braking) Reduction in power and size of the IC engine, and hence inefficiencies from under-utilization, the extra power output from the electric motor compensate the loss in peak power output from the IC engine. Any combinations of these three primary advantages of a hybrid technology may be used for different fuel usage, emissions, power. The power curve of an electric motor is suits to more variable speed levels, and will provide significantly high torque at low speeds compared to IC engines. Thus, greater fuel efficiency of HEVs has inference for reduction in fuel consumption and emission of air pollutants. Noise The noise emitted from HEVs is comparatively very low than that of a conservative gasoline or diesel engine vehicle, results in positive noise health effects. Though, the sounds from the tires (road noise), the loudest noise at highway speeds from the vehicle interiors cannot be prevented by the hybrid design alone. Pollution The fuel used in HEVs is less of petroleum products which will emit carbon oxides into the atmosphere and hence pollution created will be less comparatively to the conventional gasoline or diesel engines. These vehicles will have a very positive impact onto the environment. But, the problem is with decomposing the dead batteries which are made of metals like Ni those can oxidise and produce metal oxides which can cause pollution in the environment. Weight of the vehicle The mass of a HEV is comparatively lesser than that of a conventional gasoline or diesel engine vehicles as the components used in the hybrid cars are less in weight than those of IC engine vehicles. This factor helps in reducing the consumption of extra initial torque required to move the vehicle from rest. Disadvantages of HEVs over Conventional Petrol or Diesel Vehicles As with all new technology, hybrids are relatively expensive. Shortage in awareness of knowledge about hybrids with the technicians to deal effectively with these vehicles. High maintenance Low towing capacity Batteries are expensive, heavy and have a short life span and are an environmental hazard. Decomposition of batteries is a big challenge for the manufacturers, as the batteries are useless after they were dead and can be hazardous to the environment.

Poetry from Anthology
In this essay I will be exploring how the poets expressed their views in a strong and effective way. I shall be writing about three poems. â⬠¢ Base Details by Siegfried Sassoon â⬠¢ On the life of man by Walter Raleigh â⬠¢ Those bastards in their mansions by Simon Armitage Base Details Siegfried Sassoon In this essay I will be describing the contrasts and explore the attitude of the poet in a strong and effective way. This poem is written by Siegfried Sassoon, who was a soldier during the First World War. He used the majors and the soldiers as protagonists of this poem.The poet has described the physical attributes of the majors who would stay at the base, because they were fat, short of breath. Siegfried uses number of abusive and mockery words to describe their behaviour towards one another. In the beginning of the poem the poet says that heââ¬â¢d live in with the majors at the base. He used abusive and mockery words to describe the physical attributes they posses. Th e poet says that ââ¬Å"Baldâ⬠, ââ¬Å"short of breathâ⬠and ââ¬Å"scarletâ⬠. The word ââ¬Å"baldâ⬠means that they didnââ¬â¢t have any hair on their head, and ââ¬Å"short of breathâ⬠refers towards their shape and body figure.The lexisâ⬠scarletâ⬠has a lot of meanings, but in their case it means that they were guilty. The majors were the main reason for the death of the soldiers. These three words highlight the characteristics of them, as well as it was mentioned in the first two lines of the poem. Afterwards, Siegfried immediately talks about the soldiers whose fate was inevitably a fateful misery. The author observes the fact that, they were active and they used to get forced towards the frontline. This is evidenced from the poem he states that: ââ¬â ââ¬Å"And speed glum heroes up the line to deathâ⬠.Nevertheless, since they met their fate bravely and gave their life in the war, this made them a true hero. Additionally, the poet goes back to the description of the majorââ¬â¢s actions. So the poet uses the word ââ¬Å"Guzzleâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Gulpâ⬠in the ââ¬Å"best hotelâ⬠. In this context the poet describes that the poet himself and the majors would eat and drink in an excessive manner. Therefore the word ââ¬Å"guzzleâ⬠means to eat in an excessive manner, and the word ââ¬Å"gulpâ⬠to drink in an excessive manner as it makes a gulping sound, therefore the poet used them two word to make it effective.Moreover, since the war is still happening the majors would continuously eat and drink. To such an extent that the poet has described their faces as ââ¬Å"Puffyâ⬠and ââ¬Å"petulantâ⬠, the poet has used the mockery words again to describe the majors. The word ââ¬Å"puffyâ⬠means that they would be fat and ââ¬Å"petulantâ⬠means to be swollen. Afterwards he uses the sarcasm attitude towards the soldiers by stating: ââ¬â ââ¬Å"Poor young chap, Roll of Honou r is an alliteration which the poet has used. Iââ¬â¢d sayâ⬠.Heââ¬â¢d say ââ¬Å"poor young chapâ⬠to show their grief towards the soldiers, and ââ¬Å"Roll of Honourâ⬠is a faceless list of names of the soldiers. In reality the majors werenââ¬â¢t really cared for them whilst they were burying the soldiers. Nevertheless, after burying them they would continue their sarcastic conversations about their innocent soldiers. Siegfried proofs this from the poem he says that ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢d say I used to know his father well; yes, weââ¬â¢ve lost heavily in this scrapâ⬠. This shows up their fake and strong relationship between them. He also mentions the word ââ¬Å"scrapâ⬠to describe the war.The majors would describe this war as a scrap. This war means nothing to them, regardless theyââ¬â¢ve lost heavily amount of soldiers. This part of the poem is a technique of euphemisms. This war was like a board games, how a player would sacrifice a counter to g ain victory. In conclusion, the poet gives a scenario or a clear contrast of the soldiers and the majors. Theyââ¬â¢d be scattered everywhere. I mean that the majors would ââ¬Å"toddleâ⬠due to their fat and overeating. Therefore theyââ¬â¢d walk slowly and safely, since they are not at the battlefield.On the other side, the soldiers would be ââ¬Å"stone deadâ⬠; this means that they would be still dead at the battlefield. Finally, the rhyming scheme of this poem is (ab, ab, cd, ee,). Also the last two lines of this poem is known asâ⬠Rhyming Coupletâ⬠. Since they rhyme at the end and those two words are ââ¬Å"deadâ⬠and ââ¬Å"bedâ⬠. Those Bastards in their mansions Simon Armitage This poem is written by Simon Armitage, he has dedicated this poem towards the poor people, and this poem is from the collection of ââ¬Ëtaking a standââ¬â¢. This poem features the division between the poor and the rich.Simon Armitage is totally against it; therefo re he is taking a stand protecting the poor from the rich. Thus, I will be explaining this poem. Firstly, the author is referring the rich people as ââ¬Ëbastardsââ¬â¢ which is on the first line of the poem, because if there was to be a poor walking in front of their house they would ask each other ââ¬Å"who is he? â⬠, ââ¬Å"why is he dressed in that manner? â⬠where is he from? â⬠etc. Thatââ¬â¢s why the author referred them as ââ¬Ëbastardsââ¬â¢. In this situation the rich people would be alarmed and clutch their possessions closer.After while, he says that he would save the poor masses and protect them from different kind of destruction, and bring them a form of benefit. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢d poisoned the dogs and vaulted the ditchesâ⬠gives a form of proof from the poem itself. Moreover, there state is really ragged because not only thereââ¬â¢s a division between them, the poor people would also get oppressed by the rich. Thus, Simon Armitage de cides to break through the front door, it is also evidenced form the fifth line of first stanza, so that he would bring them benefit.This is clearly observed in line six. â⬠The gift of fire from the burning torches. These properties are like gift thus he used the word ââ¬Ëgiftââ¬â¢ to show the preciousness of it. This part of the poem refers towards the Greek mythology about Prometheus and Zeus. Prometheus was Greek God and also the first god to create human beings. Not only that he stole fire from Zeus and distributed it towards the whole of humanity. Zeus became really furious, upon knowing that Prometheus gave a precious element to the mankind.Therefore, Zeus punished Prometheus by chaining him to the peak of a mountain, so that everyday eagles would peck from his liver. Since, Prometheus was immortal each night his liver would grow back. Nevertheless, after distributing the properties he would teach them how to get rid off themselves from the great oppression and how to take a stand against the cruelty of the rich. Thereafter, since they donââ¬â¢t have any weapons to face against the rich, what they would do is that they would use the same chains and shackles which they were tied by.They use those chains to take a stand against the rich and break the division of the privileged ones and the non-privileged ones. In conclusion, the poet is alarming himself bravely in the second line of third stanza that ââ¬Å"theyââ¬â¢d have me sniffed out by their beaglesâ⬠. Simon speaks regarding their troops of dogs, which the rich would keep to guard their properties. Since in the beginning of the poem talks about poisoning the dogs, therefore the dogs certainly will be able to catch and heââ¬â¢ll get imprisoned as well as face other severe consequences.But on the last stanza he says that ââ¬Å"me, I stick to the shadows carry a gunâ⬠, here the poet clearly and bravely shows himself that heââ¬â¢s fearless and heââ¬â¢d hide himself fr om those bastards in their mansions. On the life of Man Sir Walter Raleigh This poem has been written about the life, by using extended metaphor throughout the poem. It also gives a bit of idea by looking at its title. It has been written by Sir Walter Raleigh. He has expressed his attitude and his views towards this life as a form of ââ¬ËSacrificeââ¬â¢. There are other numerous views regarding this life.I will be exploring his attitude in a strong and effective way. In the beginning, Sir Walter Raleigh asks a rhetorical question that ââ¬Å"What is Lifeâ⬠. Then he gives immediate response by saying ââ¬Å"A play of Passionâ⬠. The word ââ¬Å" playâ⬠is referring towards the life, meaning that how it works or it carries on etc. in this context it is blatantly giving the indication towards a theatre play. The poet has used the theatre play to show the example of life. Then he tells the situation of life, therefore he says his opinion upon saying the word ââ¬Å"p assionâ⬠.Passion is giving the meaning of going through strong emotions and lot of sacrifices. There are many people whoââ¬â¢d go through sacrifices in their life. The most famous example is Christ, who went through lot sacrifices, to such an extent that he died to take away his peopleââ¬â¢s sins. Later on, he states that there is a small amount of laughter or amusements takes place in our life. He compares this amusement as a small amount of time. Therefore, he says that ââ¬Å"Our mirth the music of division. â⬠He indicates this back to the play, this shows that when all the actors go for a short interval.Whilst some orchestra will appear on the stage to entertain the audiences as well as some will eat, talk, or go to the toilet. This is done so that they can split up the acts. Additionally, the poet talks about the beginning of life. He takes the human beings as actors and a place where they would get dressed. He states ââ¬Å"Our motherââ¬â¢s womb the tiring houses can beâ⬠. He uses the word ââ¬Å"wombâ⬠to link it towards the green room, and then the poet elaborates more about this point to show what happens. He states further upon saying ââ¬Å"Where we are dressed for this short comedyâ⬠.Sir Walter supports the view of life as short progression of time; therefore he has mentioned the word ââ¬Å"shortâ⬠as well as ââ¬Å"comedyâ⬠. The word ââ¬Å"comedyâ⬠refers towards a play which ends happily. Moreover, Sir Walter Raleigh identifies a link of life with God. He asserts that God is watching us sharply, thus he quotes ââ¬Å"Heaven the judicious sharp spectator isâ⬠, he is using metaphor to make God as our audience. The poet strongly believes that he will get accounted for whatever he does in this life. Therefore, he explains further that god is looking over us continuously and judging us according to our actions.He says ââ¬Å"That sits and marks still who doth act amissâ⬠. Meanwhile, the aut hor describes the grave where everyone will end up at the end of their life. He quotesâ⬠our graves that hide us from the searching Sunâ⬠. The poet is using the word ââ¬Å"hideâ⬠to show that the earth will be filled over us. He uses metaphor of the stage again, like the way he has mentioned at the beginning. He gives an example on saying that ââ¬Å" Are like drawn curtains that when the play gets done the curtain draws close, exactly the same way a life of a person ends by filling earth over him/her.Finally, the poet ends this poem describing the progression of time. He states ââ¬Å"thus march we playing to our latest restâ⬠. The word ââ¬Å"restâ⬠shows that theyââ¬â¢ll be in luxury in the next world, since a person has sacrificed or take this life as strong emotions. It also show that the poet is being theist based on this fact. Then on the last line he says ââ¬Å"only we die in earnest and, thatââ¬â¢s no jestâ⬠. He is referring towards the poem once more that, this life is nothing or it has no value to him. Therefore, he has mentioned the word ââ¬Å"earnestâ⬠and ââ¬Å"jestâ⬠to show that we truly die and thatââ¬â¢s no joke nor itââ¬â¢s fake.
